In line with long term agreements for the use of the Esso brand and the supplies of fuels from ExxonMobil the approximately 250 petrol stations will continue to be Esso branded stations, and the company will continue to market both Esso and Mobil branded products.A county-by-county station overview is provided via the Esso Fuel Finder.

Brands and products

Esso

Esso is the phonetically written abbreviation of Standard Oil (S.O.), the oil company established by John D. Rockefeller in 1882. In the seventies, the courts imposed certain restrictions on the use of the names Standard Oil and Esso in the US. Therefore both the group and brand names in the US were changed to Exxon. The current group name originated in 1999 when Exxon merged with Mobil to form ExxonMobil.

In Norway and other European countries, Esso can offer a close-knit network of service stations, resellers, distributors, as well as terminals for industrial consumers.

Mobil

Mobil has been breaking new ground in the development of lubricants for over 100 years. Since then, Mobil has developed lubricants in every market segment that have exceeded all corresponding technical requirements. Moreover, Mobil has secured a strong position in the synthetic lubricants sector, underlined by the fact that car manufacturers in the upper price bracket, such as Porsche, Mercedes Benz AMG and Aston Martin, only use Mobil 1 lubricant on the production line to fill their brand new cars.

Mobil products are on sale at Esso service stations, at a number of chain stores and at garages.

ExxonMobil

The ExxonMobil logo is found on fuels and lubricants that clients purchase in large quantities, for ocean-going vessels and planes, for example. Local consumers use Esso and Mobil branded products.

But whether the label reads Esso, Mobil or ExxonMobil, the customer can always be sure of one thing: it meets the highest standards of quality.

Mobil1

Formula 1 functions as a practical testing ground for Mobil’s new products. An oil compound that performs well in Formula 1 will eventually find its way to the consumer. There actually isn’t a great deal of difference between the Mobil 1 engine oil you can purchase in an Esso service station and the oil used in Formula 1 cars.

Products

ExxonMobil markets products both under the Esso and Mobil brands through a nationwide chain of around 250 retail service stations, of which 14 are automated stations under the name Esso Express. At 107 sites NorgesGruppen is the operator of store concepts and car wash facilities.

The temperature in a racing engine running at top speed is comparable to that of a standard car engine on a hot summer’s day. Engine manufacturers will continue to do everything in their power to push the limits of their products. Naturally, Mobil also participates in these technical and technological developments, with the car driver being the ultimate winner. His car engine will perform better, last longer and use less fuel.

ExxonMobil is also an important player in the lubes and special products markets. Our scientifically manufactured synthetic quality lubricants are marketed mainly under the brands Mobil 1, Mobil Delvac 1 and Mobil SHC for the passenger car, heavy duty vehicle and industrial segments respectively. ExxonMobil is selling lubricants and special products both directly to commercial customers and through selective distributors and partners.

Chemicals

ExxonMobil Chemical is an integrated manufacturer and global marketer of olefins, aromatics, fluids, synthetic rubber, polyethylene, polypropylene, plasticizers, synthetic lubricant basestocks, additives for fuels and lubricants, zeolite catalysts and other petrochemical products.
